PESHAWAR: A truck driver and a cleaner were killed early on Monday as unidentified gunmen attacked a tanker in Jamrud tehsil on the Pak-Afghan highway.

The tanker was transporting goods for Nato forces deployed in Afghanistan.

Official sources said the tanker was attacked near the Wazir Dhand area of Jamrud which is situated in the northwestern tribal region of Khyber.

A few days back, an attack on the same highway had left two people supplying material to Nato forces in Afghanistan dead, making today's incident the second such attack in a week.

Pakistan is a key supply route for the US-led mission in landlocked Afghanistan, particularly as Nato forces prepare to withdraw a large number of troops and equipment by the end of this year.
