KARAK/NOWSHERA: An internally displaced person was killed and his brother received injuries when their opponents attacked their rented house in Karak Township here on Monday.

Police said that the family of Ma Khan had shifted to Karak from Miramshah, North Waziristan Agency after launch of Zarb-i-Azb military operation there.

They said that the rivals of Ma Khan attacked his rented house and injured his two sons identified as Sher Zaman and Rambail Khan. The injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital where Sher Zaman succumbed to his injuries before getting any medical treatment. Rambail Khan was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, they added.

Sources said that the incident was result of an old enmity. The relatives of the victims registered FIR against Ataullah and Akhter Jan and four other persons in Karak police station. Police blocked all exit points of the district to arrest the suspects.

Khyber IDPs threaten sit-in against provincial government

Meanwhile, the internally displaced persons from Khyber Agency, living at Jalozai camp in Nowshera, have threatened to stage sit-in outside the building of provincial assembly and Governor’s House in Peshawar against what they call the stepmother treatment of the provincial government.

“We have also left our homes for the sake of the country but the government is treating the IDPs of Khyber and North Waziristan agencies differently. It is not acceptable,” they said.

Addressing a protest of IDPs on Monday, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader in Khyber Agency Iqbal Afridi and leader of Qaumi Watan Party Ajab Khan Afridi alleged that government was concentrating to facilitate IDPs of North Waziristan Agency only. The government was trying to provide Waziristan IDPs with all kinds of amenities but it had totally ignored the IDPs of Khyber Agency, they said.

They said that IDPs of Khyber agency were crying for basic facilities while the government was giving Rs52,000 per person to Waziristan IDPs. “The stepmother attitude of government is not acceptable as we have also left our homes and properties like the people of Waziristan,” they added.
