NAWABSHAH: People ran for their lives into open spaces when the city and its adjoining areas were rocked by strong tremors early Saturday morning.

The jolts, which hit the area at 6:08am, continued for around 10 seconds, creating fear and panic among the citizens and causing minor injuries to at least 10 people.

Most of the people were fast asleep when the tremors occurred. Women and children were seen scurrying out of their homes and onto the streets away from tall buildings and walls.

They waited out for some time and went back after having recovered from the shock.

Similar jolts were felt in Daur, Bandhi, 60 Miles, Sakrand and other towns.

Many government and private schools were closed and sent back the students who had already reached there.

No major loss was reported from any part of the district.
