KARACHI: Spinner Ali Murtaza excelled with a 12-wicket match haul as Larkana Bulls trounced Dera Murad Jamali Ibexes by 162 runs in their second-round Pool ‘A’ fixture in the PCB Inter-Region Under-19 Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.

Quetta Bears also recorded a creditable 122-run victory over Hyderabad Hawks in the other Pool ‘A’ game at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad.

The Bulls’ win was inevitable after the Ibexes struggled to 81-3 by Monday evening after being set a stiff 286-run chase at the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto International Cricket Stadium in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.

Resuming the last day of the three-day tie, the Ibexes lost their seven wickets for the addition of just 42 runs with only Sanaullah offering some sort of a fight by making 39 from 111 balls with the help of four boundaries.

Ali, the slow left-armer who snared eight wickets for 45 runs in the first innings, claimed four wickers for 35 runs to finish with 12 for 80 for the match.

The Hawks were never in the hunt of 311-run target when they capitulated in the space of 51 overs for a total of 188 against the spin of Mukhtyar Ahmed who grabbed eight wickets for 53 runs.

Mukhtyar ended up with match figures of 14 for 100 since he had taken 6-47 in the first innings as well.

Behram Khan shone for the home side with a robust 64-ball effort of 58 that was laced with 10 fours.

Earlier, the Bears closed their second innings at 208-8 after having begun the day at 134-4. Shahzad doubled his overnight score to remain unbeaten with 60 (103 balls, five boundaries).

Daniyal Hussain took all four wickets to fall on Tuesday to finish with fine figures of six for 42.

The one-day matches between these four teams will be played on Thursday.
