JUI-F's Maulvi Agha Muhammad de-notified as MNA

QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday de-notified the membership of Member National Assembly Maulvi Agha Muhammad in a fake degree case.
Muhammad was elected as an MNA from NA-261 Pishin-Ziarat on a ticket of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) during the general elections held last year.
Earlier, an election tribunal in Balochistan had disqualified him in a fake degree case. Essa Roshan, a candidate of the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) from the same constituency had challenged his degree.
Roshan had stated that Muhammad had never been to any academic institution therefore he should be disqualified from his seat.
A local court in Pishin had already declared the MNA disqualified during its proceedings of the case.
With the disqualification of Agha Muhammad, the JUI-F currently has only two members from Balochistan in the National Assembly.
Sources in the ECP told Dawn that the schedule for the NA-261 re-election will likely be announced within the next few days.

Look at this cheat. What does he look like?. He looks like a good Muslim. I would expect someone who looks like this to be a honest, caring, law abiding citizen. This is exactly the problem we have in Pakistan. We ONLY pay attention to the outside. If you don't pray 5 times a day, you are a bad person, not just a bad Muslim. We need to change this mindset otherwise, we will be ruled by these illiterate cheats forever. I would love to see him sent to jail for a couple of years.

One would have thought that maulana saheb being a devout muslim would have the moral decency to refrain from submitting a fake degree. Isn't this what they claim their votes for - upholders of moral values in the society.

Why did it take ECP so long to find out. It is too late ECP needs to do its job more efficiently. The personnel and processes of ECP needs to be changed so that such issues are sorted not a year after the elections but when candidates file their nomination papers. ECP needs to be reorganised. Why did Essa Roshan need to challenge the Maulvi's fake degree what was the ECP doing. ECP should have ascertained it that basic documents of all candidates are valid before allowing them to contest in the elections. ECP by allowing this candidate to contest the elections on the basis of fake documents is part of the pre-rigging in the last elections.

Maulvi is an honorific Islamic religious title given to Muslim religious scholars. How can this guy be maulvi if he has no honour, These people should be permenantly bared from contesting elections

We don't need these scum telling the ignorant and uneducated how to live their lives. This man lied and was under oath in the assemble and there is no criminal action against him? Our laws are as outdated as the British empire, we need to revamp them ASAP. I wonder if the Chief Justice realizes that its part of his job description.
