MURREE: The road from Lower Topa to Angoori was damaged after a National Highway Authority (NHA) contractor allegedly dumped heavy mud and debris there while clearing the expressway.
Residents during a protest outside the press club on Tuesday told reporters that the expressway was damaged due to a landslide during recent rains. The contract to clear the road was given to a contractor who dumped the debris on Angoori Road. As a result the population of the area has been stranded for the last 10 days.
The protesters said they lodged complaints with the departments concerned and elected representatives but to no avail.
They said Federal Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and provincial minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar – neither visited the area nor tried to resolve the problem.
