KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain insisting for the creation of new provinces said that Pakistan would be wiped out from the global map, if new administrative borders were not drawn.
Addressing his birthday function at MQM headquarters via video link early on Wednesday, he stressed the need for new provinces,saying that Pakistan is the only country to have a small number of provinces despites its large population.
He also demanded that local bodies elections be held.
He said that earlier nationalist parties had created a fuss when he had demanded the creation of new province and added that now he is not the only one, talking about the need for new provinces, as Tahirul Qadri was also demanding new provinces not. Similarly, Imran Khan has also raised his voice for local bodies systems.
Altaf Hussain urged his supporters to be geared up to support their spiritual father as what he is going to do is a hard job. He added that he would bring honest people in the coordination committee and all ranks of the party.
The MQM chief asked Sindhis and Mohajirs to avoid confrontation and spread the message of love and peace.
In his speech, Hussain also addressed armed forces and told them that their responsibility is to safeguard geographical borders of the country, while civilians govern the state. “However when even top judges were accused of poll rigging than army should be prepared to support the nation,” he added.
Hussain further said that he wanted to inform the armed forces that Turkey's “Atta Turk” was also a soldier, those who brought a revolution in the United States of America also hailed from forces, Fidel Castro of Cuba was also from army whereas French revolution was also brought by a soldier.”
The ceremony was culminated on the revival of party workers oath of loyalty with their patron in chief Altaf Hussain.
