KARACHI: The Palestine team will be arriving in Lahore next month for a two-match friendly series against Pakistan, a Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) official told Dawn on Thursday.

“Palestine will be arriving in Lahore play two friendlies on Oct 12 and 14,” PFF’s marketing consultant Sardar Naveed Haider Khan said on Thursday. “The team is scheduled to arrive on Oct 10.”

Palestine last came to Pakistan in 2011 with the team playing matches in both Lahore and Karachi. The Pakistan and Palestine football teams are both currently involved in the Asian Games.

“The arrival of the Palestine football team is an indication of the good work done by the PFF president Faisal Saleh Hayat in bringing international football to the country,” Sardar Naveed added.

“Along with hosting Palestine, Pakistan will also have the honour of organising the SAFF Women’s Championship in November.”

Pakistan’s women players are currently training ahead of the South Asian event at the national team camp in Lahore.
