DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The local police seized 42 non-customs paid cars carrying Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf flags and arrested their owners in Darban Kalan area here on Friday.
The seizure occurred when the cars were part of a rally.
The police said the motorists failed to produce documents to prove vehicles were customs paid.
They said motorists tried in vain to deceive them by giving an impression that they were on the way to Islamabad to take part in the PTI sit-in.
The police said some motorists fled leaving cars behind.
They said the cars were being smuggled from Balochistan.
When contacted, DSP circle Zahoorudin Bahawal said an investigation had been launched to know the identity of smugglers.
He said the police would continue cracking down on non-customs paid vehicles and would not succumb to any pressure or favour.
The DSP said the police would pursue the case and ensure the handing down of strict action against smugglers.
He said the people, who had fled, would be chased before they were brought to justice.
