MARDAN: The Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, on Saturday opened University College of Arts (UCA) at its main campus here.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ihsan Ali said that Pakhtuns needed to be given opportunities and facilities to help them exploit their talent and potential. He said that it was need of the hour that more and more educational institutions should be established in Pakhtun areas to help them unleash their abilities.
The Pakhtun culture has its own identity across the world and we all have to play a role for its prosperity, said Mr Ali.
He announced 50 per cent discount in tuition fees for the students seeking admission in the first batch of the newly established University College of Arts. Besides, he also announced annual MPhil and PhD scholarships for students of the college.
On the occasion, UCA principal Fazal Sattar Khan said that the arts college would have design, architecture art, history, theory and fine arts departments, adding that its staff would try their level best to make the institute as the best college of arts in the province.
