SUKKUR, Sept 1: Employees of the food department, Sukkur, held a demonstration and observed a token hunger strike in front of the press club here on Monday.

The protesters demanded that the employees working on daily wages should be regularized and salaries for the past three months be paid immediately.

They also demanded uniforms which had not been issued for the last six years.

Union president Abdul Rasheed Mahar and general secretary Yar Mohammad Khoso told journalists that the families of the employees were starving owing to the non-payment of salaries for the last three months.

They further said that if their demands were not met with soon, they would launch a protest movement that would continue till their demands were fulfilled.
