KARACHI: The first day of Eidul Azha will be celebrated across Pakistan on October 6, Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman announced after no reports were received of credible sighting of the Zilhaj moon on Thursday.
The announcement followed a meeting of the central moon-sighting committee and other zonal committees in all provincial capitals of the country.
No credible sighting of the moon was reported from anywhere in the country, it said.
The Islamic month of Zilhaj will now commence on Sept 27 whereas Eidul Azha will be celebrated across Pakistan on October 6.

Eid in the Arab states would be on Saturday and in Pakistan on Monday. Therefore, there is a gap of two days in between. We don't need maulvees to look for the crescent. As per the scientific calculations, the crescent will appear but only for a short while and therefore, could not be seen. The two day gap is does not make sense.

How in the world could you possibly chage or move the date or day of Haj? And when was the last time you saw the moon for Ramazan Or Eid?

Using scientific calucations to decide Eid is not Islamic... however using scietific calucations to decide prayer timings is Islamic....... :)
and it is Islamic to use scietfic tools.... telescope etc... to decide Eid.
Pathetic Mulla rule.

Saudis are celebrating Eid Al Adha on Saturday Oct 4 as well UAE and Kuwait, do not understand why Oct 6 in Pakistan?
Time difference
Pakistan is in UTC+04
Saudi Arabia UTC+03
UAE UTC+04
Kuwait UTC+03
So we don't have BIG time difference with those countries which are celebrating Eid on Oct 4.
Oct 5 might make sense but Oct 6?
Let KPK announce EID on Oct 5

@Rashid
Pease leave us alone with our Azha and you keep your Adha was with you in some Gulf country. And we'll continue calling Ramzan.
@Scientist
Yes we need a molvi to see the moon as first night moon is only visible to a Alam Fadhal and not to ordinary gunah gaar dunyawi scientists.

@Aamir does Munib-ur-Rehman knows the meaning o crescent. This is complete non-sense, Hajj is on Friday, and EID on Monday in Pakistan. Eid-ul-Adha is related to Hajj, no argument. Khallas...end of story.

@Aurang - Absolutely, right. Also, we should move away from spotting it with naked eyes. There are scientific methods, so that we all have Eid on a same day.

@Aurang Please, before you slate anyone know your deen. Its the sunnah to look for the moon AND its the sunnah that the news of the sighting come from a person of piety. A Molvee looking for the moon is good...not saying a scientist cant be pious but its their thing.
Thanks.

@Aurang Why do you need molvi for janaza and nikah either? it should also be done by a common Muslim. Who is a molvee? It's just that we as Muslim did not put effort to learn Quraan and hadith as a result we need to go to these molvees.

Those having a go at scientific methods, read up your history. The downfall of the Islamic empire started after the defeat in Austria the clergy blamed the scientists and the state turned in the scientists and science.

Why is Eid on October 6 in Pakistan? In Mecca it is on October 4 - this committee is a joke, they are racists (always going against our brothers in KP/FATA on the sighting of the moon) and nackwards. Let's move into the 21st century Pakistan and beyond Pakistanis.
