ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday reiterated that armed forces of the country are fully prepared to deter and defeat any form of aggression across the entire spectrum of threat.

“With its unique accomplishment of confronting both conventional and sub-conventional threat, Pakistan Army is respected for its achievements and sacrifices the world over,” said a statement issued by the Inter services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) made these remarks during his visit to Kharian for earth breaking ceremony of upcoming National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) today.

The NCTC will be a state of the art facility with large capacity to impart quality training to troops for combating terrorism, in all kinds of terrain.

The statement came days after Gen Sharif expressed resolve to respond effectively to any provocation along the Line of Control (LoC). He said this while visiting troops deployed in forward localities along the LoC near Jhelum.

“Since we will have to fight this menace of terror together with other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) across the nook and corner of the country, Army will do its part to train paramilitary force, police, constabulary and levies also at this facility,” he said.

NCTC Pabbi will not only play an important role for training of own troops, it will cater for the growing demand of training requests from other friendly armies also, said the ISPR press release.

Later, the army chief visited troops undergoing counter-terrorism training exercises, and appreciated the standards achieved. He also paid glowing tributes to the troops participating in ongoing Operation Zarb-i-Azb for successes achieved so far.

Earlier on his arrival, the COAS was received by Lieutenant General Tariq Khan, Commander 1 Corps Mangla.
