LAKKI MARWAT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Colonel retired Ameerullah Khan Marwat on Tuesday inaugurated a sub-campus of the University of Science and Technology, Bannu, at the postgraduate college in Lakki city here.

The campus, temporarily established in the college’s postgraduate block, will initially offer classes in education and research and political science.

The inaugural ceremony was attended among others by JUI-F MPA Munawar Khan Marwat, varsity vice-chancellor Dr Abdul Rahim, deputy registrar Inamullah Marwat, director works Mohammad Rehan and prominent educationist Dr Mohammad Nafees.

On the occasion, Ameerullah Marwat said that establishment of the campus would pave way for setting up a full-fledged varsity in the backward district, promoting promote higher education in the area. The PTI lawmaker said that promotion of education and research would open ways for development and reiterated that he would launch work on the cadet college project so provide quality education to students.

Mr Marwat also promised to approve funds for rehabilitation and development of tourist resort at Shaikh Badin. He asked the students to concentrate on their education and also take part in welfare activities.

THREE BOOKED: The anti-corruption establishment has booked three persons for tampering with the land record.

An official said on Tuesday that Naushad Aslam Khan had lodged a complaint with anti-corruption establishment stating that Yousaf Khan in connivance with ex-tehsildar Shah Nawaz Khan and patwari Khamdullah Jan incurred loss to the government kitty and deprived him of a piece of land by tampering with the revenue record. The official said an inquiry was launched, which found the three persons guilty of the offence and lodged a case against them.

TOURNAMENT: The annual sports tournament among government high and higher secondary schools will start here from October 25. An announcement to this effect was made at a meeting here on Tuesday chaired by DEO Nazir Khan. The participants formed an organising committee for successful holding of the tournament.

The district education officer called upon the principals and headmasters to ensure participation of students of their respective schools in the sports events. “Games promote peace and love and keep students physically and mentally fit,” he maintained.
