PESHAWAR: Javed Naseem, an MPA of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, has said that he will start a sit-in protest against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak from October 15 which will continue till his removal.

Mr Naseem, who was elected from PK-3 Peshawar, staged a protest demonstration near the press club here on Saturday and said that his proposed sit-in would continue till the ouster of the present chief minister, who, he alleged, was involved in nepotism, corruption and violation of merit.

The lawmaker also accused Mr Khattak of non-allocation of development funds to his constituency. On this occasion, the protesters led by Mr Naseem also raised ‘go Khattak go’ slogans.

He said that the provincial government was violating merit, but gave “all OK” report to party chairman Imran Khan. Mr Naseem claimed that he would be accompanied by other provincial ministers and MPAs during his sit-in wherein people would be informed about the wrongdoings of a ‘group of five’ people in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

He said that corruption was at peak under Mr Khattak, adding that provincial police officer Nasir Khan Durrani would be responsible for any mishap with him. He said that he had already lodged a report with the police in this connection. He said that certain elements with vested interests were at the helm of affairs and they had been creating hurdles in the way of ideologically elected representatives of the party.

He said that the real workers were being stopped from meeting the party chairman. He said that PTI didn’t take votes only in Nowshera, Swabi and Dir, but also in other districts of the province. However, the development funds are being spent in some specific districts. He said that there were five MNAs from the same family elected on the PTI’s tickets and sought its justification.

Mr Naseem said that the people shouldn’t cast votes in favour of poor candidates in future because they faced humiliation in assemblies. The PTI-led government, he said, had failed to deliver on its promises as the old ‘thana and patwar culture’ still existed and there was no change. He predicted that new chief minister would be from Peshawar district.

Mr Naseem said that he was the true follower of Imran Khan and would continue to work for implementation of the party manifesto. He said that residents of his constituency were not getting clean drinking water.

PTI SERVES NOTICE ON THE MPA: Without wasting time Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PTI president Azam Swati served a show cause notice on MPA Naseem, asking him to explain within seven days why he violated the party discipline by criticising the party leaders. A statement issued by the party’s media cell quoted Mr Swati as telling the MPA that he should have conveyed his reservations to the party’s chairman, Imran Khan, instead of media.

It said that Mr Naseem had levelled baseless allegations against senior party leaders and he would face action if he did not give satisfactory explanation. It added that the MPA should have met Imran Khan who was accessible to all.

Mr Swati also said that the timing of Mr Naseem’s statement was not appropriate because the party’s central and provincial leadership was engaged in sit-in in Islamabad against rigging in May 2013 election.
