SWABI: Municipal staff failed to remove waste of sacrificial animals in various areas of the district on Sunday, causing foul smell.

People complained that municipal administrations of Swabi, Topi, Chota Lahor and Razaar tehsils failed to adopt a mechanism to collect offal. They said that people usually dumped waste into drains, causing them to choke and give foul smell.

Qaisar Khan of Maneri Bala told Dawn that it was the responsibility of TMAs to adopt a mechanism for picking up waste of sacrificial animals to save people from diseases.

However, people said that those performing the Islamic ritual should dispose of offal on their own instead of waiting for the sanitary staff to do so.

MEAT FOR POOR: Jamaat-i-Islami would distribute meat among poor people of the district on the occasion of Eidul Azha today (Monday)

Party leaders said that the JI had bought animals worth Rs0.6 million for the purpose. They said that meat would also be distributed among jail inmates and disabled people.

They said that Khidmat-i-Mazooran Tanzeem would slaughter animals and distribute meat among people.

EID CELEBRATION: The residents of Tarbela Dam and Ghazi tehsil refused to celebrate Eid on Sunday and said they would celebrate the occasion as per the decision of the central Ruet-i-Hilal committee.

It was learnt that some people approached the imam of Right Bank Colony mosque to announce that the Eid would be celebrated Sunday in Tarbela Dam residential colonies, but he refused to do so.

The imam was quoted as telling the people that he would follow the central Ruet-i-Hilal committee decision.
