Operation 021 may have had large crowds turning up at Atrium and Nueplex, but Pakistan's oldest cinemas, Bambino and Capri, met with a different fate.

The much anticipated Shaan starrer, which released on Eid-ul-Azha, was interrupted by the audience throwing bottles at the screen in Bambino.

"People did not like the film, possibly because it was an English film," said Mukesh, the projection room operator at Bambino. "My staff came in and told me that people were throwing bottles at the screen, but I told them we cannot stop a scheduled show."

Bambino had two shows scheduled on the first day of Eid-ul-Azha. However, when the management saw the response of the audience at the 12pm show, which damaged the cinema screen as well, they decided not to run the second screening at 8pm.

"It's not a bad film, but when we didn't get a good response, we decided to take the film down," added Mukesh.

He further added that Capri cinema faced similar fate during their show at 3pm on Eid-ul-Azha.

Both cinemas are now playing Na Maloom Afraad and Bang Bang instead.

The film's fate at these two cinemas was also discussed on Twitter:
