CHITRAL: Four people were killed and three others injured when a pick-up van going to Drosh from the border village Arandu plunged into river at Kauti here on Tuesday.

Police sources said that bodies of two of the drowned persons, identified as Rahmat Nizar of Ashirate village and Haider Ali of Garam Chashma, were retrieved from the river while search was in progress for the two others.

The driver, Nasrullah, and two passengers have been admitted to the THQ hospital, Drosh, and their condition is stated to be serious. Sources said that Haider Ali was a soldier of Chitral Scouts and was buried in his ancestral village Garam Chashma.
