KHAIRPUR: Agitating over the murder of one of their colleagues, employees of the Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) on Thursday night shut down the Khairpur grid station rendering the entire city without power.

The victim, Noor Ahmed Soomro, 55, posted at the grid station as the official in charge of the night shift workers, was shot dead near the place of his duty apparently by some criminals.

A large number of Sepco workers, along with the bereaved family, took the body to the Marium Taup Chowk along the old National Highway after shutting down the gird station. They staged a protest demonstration for several hours.

The Khaipur DSP persuaded them to disperse and restore electricity to the city, assuring them that the culprits would be arrested as soon as possible.
