KARACHI: A rally organised by the Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) on Friday condemned what it described as unprovoked Indian firing along the working boundary and the Line of Control and called upon the Pakistan government to declare jihad against India.
A large number of JuD workers and sympathisers converged on the Karachi Press Club to denounce Indian aggression that claimed lives of several innocent citizens.

Carrying banners and placards inscribed with the demand to wage jihad against India, the participants in the rally shouted slogans and vowed to lay down their lives to defend their motherland.
Besides JuD’s Karachi chief Dr Muzammil Iqbal Hashmi, leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Jamaat-i-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan, and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf also addressed the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hashmi said that terrorism on the Sialkot working boundary was part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of aggression, as he wanted to take advantage of Pakistan’s internal problems.
“India should know that every citizen of Pakistan is ready to sacrifice his life for the protection of his country,” he said, adding that the whole nation was behind the armed forces in their action to counter Indian aggression.
JI leader Osama Razi said that India was violating the international borders in connivance with the United States.
Other leaders also asked the government of Pakistan to give a ‘befitting response’ to unprovoked Indian aggression They said that Pakistani nation knew how to respond to the Indian threat and the nuclear bomb was made for the defence of the country.
They criticised the human rights organisations for keeping quiet about the Indian aggression.
They also paid tribute to the JuD for holding the event and inviting several political and religious parties to show unity.
ST, MWM condemn Indian aggression
The Sunni Tehreek and the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen also held separate protest demonstrations outside the city mosques after the Friday prayers.
They condemned Indian terrorism and attacks on the internationally recognised borders and lines of control in Kashmir and called upon the United Nations to take notice of Indian aggression.
“Our patience and desire for peace should not be taken as our weakness, as people of will never allow anyone to cast an evil eye on their country,” said the leaders.
ST chief Sarwat Ejaz Qadri said that the people of Pakistan would not hesitate to give any sacrifice to protect their country.
MWM leader Maulana Mukhtar Imami said that despite their internal differences the people of Pakistan and all parties were united to defend every inch of their country.

Kashmir..Kashmir...Kasmir...why is this small piece of land become so important that pakistan is ready to sacrifice it's struggling health and wealth on it.
Shouldn't Pakistan's focus be on improving polio infected regions like Multan, Quetta, Sukkur. Shouldn't the focus be getting rid of Taliban infected regions. Shouldn't the focus be on increasing the country's GDP growth per year.

Now is the time for these non state actors to start jumping, when the peace is returning to the border. After all their interest is hurt when peace prevails. Pakistan authorities should contain such elements if they are genuinely looking forward to have peace to India. These forces could be the next target from across the border. And that is the reason ants are running down their pants.
Such forces have invited drone attacks on western border, better curtail them timely.

I really don't know how monitoring at International borders is ensured in western part of the world as I never heard about any cross border firing there. Why don't the same monitoring process adopted by India and Pakistan, instead of endless blame game. Of what we feel in India, nuclear weapons are only a deterrence and would never be used practically ever. Any country even threatening to nuke another country would be bombed by the entire world.
Also what has been reported in Indian media is that Pakistan started the violence. It is kinda believable cause India has more to lose because of this border violence considering the global investments India is expecting which may not happen if the risks are viewed as high.

Does it make any difference to anyone in the world or any country if there are some protests in Pakistan against India?
Pakistani politicians and military advisers have lost trust from everyone in the world. Now Pakistan has reached a state where no country is going to care about what they say (especially after hiding Bin Laden for a decade).
One important thing to note is Pakistan's all weather friend, China, has remained silent during the latest conflict, which says a lot about how the world views Pakistan now.
With US moving out of Afghanistan and Modi making huge inroads in Intl diplomacy with US, China, Japan, there will be little interest in Pakistan for anyone. Basic common sense is enough to think which country the world is going rally behind in this conflict.
Nawaz Sharif's address to Kashmir during UN speech was totally ignored by all countries.
So for Pakistan, is it really worth spending all resources on Kashmir ?
No matter which government comes in India, stand seems to be more of less same. i.e. Stop militancy and talk.
Pakistan neither has the military might nor the diplomacy/business interests with which it can influence other countries.
Remember an old saying by Zia Ul Haq where he wanted to fight a thousand year war with India and bleed it with small cuts.
If someone carefully observes, it will be clear who is bleeding now.
The gap now seems to be widening with India in every aspect. India is viewed as a country of the future and raises hope for a better tomorrow.
Everyday more and more youngsters are getting into mainstream and improving the standard of their lives in India.
There is hope for everyone and the politicians have slowly started to deliver.
In a decade or so,
1. Most of the population will be directly connected with the world and making impact through out the world.
2. Will continue to exercise the democratic rights on a daily basis with rapidly growing Social media in the country.
3. Would have improved the standard of life drastically (Proof is there already compared to last 2 decades).
4. India will be an important nation for most of the forward looking countries (Including China).
So with the above combination, is it really possible for Pakistan to compete with India ?
The world has changed. So better Pakistan change its plan and try to come to the mainstream.
Its time to take cue from the world matters and start moving in the direction of development.

It will be more fruitful to declare Jehad against poverty and illiteracy than against India which is now beyond the reach of Pakistan.India has gone far ahead in every field and the gap between the two countries is increasing by the day.Recently the Chinese President came to India but did not visit Pakistan. Modi was received with full honours by the US President while the Pak PM had to return from New York unnoticed.Let Jahad be launched against the factors that caused this widening gap to bring prosperity and happiness to the country. Hateful speeches will do no good.

Why hold the rally in Karachi or Islamabad or Lahore and not near the working border and line of control? The people on the both sides of the border should organize rally and demand declaration of peace and demilitarization of the border and not jehad. Why can't India and Pakistan have two Kashmir? As for the people in the picture, they are the product of decades of corruption and poor governance. They are frustrated, uneducated and have no hope for a better future. I salute Dawn that gives too much coverage to Indians commenting on their online site. Another good point I notice is that- comments by Pakistanis have been very moderate and cool-headed. How I wish two countries can join a common economic zone and eventually it becomes a European Union or COMESA

Dear Pakistani brothers and sisters, why are you not declaring jihad against poverty, polio, Why not fight for country's economic growth. Without peace there will be no prosperity. western world are far ahead from us. And we are fighting just for one issue that is kashmir. Think about it from other side. And try to make better world.

Dawn, thanks for keeping this forum alive and active This is the best way to keep people in both the countries talking to each other openly no matter how different or similar the view points.
When people only listen to their own politicians only , they don't get the true picture always.
This dialogue amongst the people from both sides will help keep the people engaged in conversations and also help the realities sink in.
Protests are a normal feature of the democratic process and people tend to get emotionally agitated about issues.
Dying for ones country in some situations may be deemed noble but living sensibly and working hard to build your nation and earn respectability for it is always a better option.
Pakistan has no reason to have any fears about India or any other nation except its own internal mindset and religious extremism.
It is heartening to see a large section of Pakistani commentators pragmatic and moderate in their views.

From the comments I got a good point that maximum pakistanis do not like the above ideas, it is a very good sign for the future.
Great work by the DAWN, I just like reading in DAWN regarding any India and Pakistan issues; and some times I feel here the news reporting is more unbiased than many papers in India.

Most Indians do not want any war with Pakistan and certainly, do not support territorial aggression from any side. The world has changed, education and economic progress will determine the fate of nations.
There are vested interests on both sides of the border that support war mongering. It is disappointing to see ordinary citizens getting provoked by such elements. However, such people and their aggressive acts are on the decline.
Hope for a lasting peace and prosperity in the region.

Look at what happened to LTTE when they took on a sovereign nation state. When the gloves come off, the guys with bigger guns win.

@Jahanzaib You are right. And Modi has already taken first step small step in that direction - Jan Dhan Yojana. It basically brings into fold unbanked Indians from the lowest strata of the society. Modi launched his government's mega scheme 'Jan Dhan Yojana', declaring that it was aimed at eradicating financial untouchability by providing bank accounts to the poor.
On the inaugural day, a record 1.5 crore bank accounts were opened across the country, the largest such exercise on a single day possibly anywhere in the world.
Now can you tell me any such scheme declared by your Govt.? Or are all people in your country rich?
Unveiling the scheme within 100 days of forming the new government, Modi said, it will cover 7.5 crore people by January 26, 2015.

What sort of message is Pakistan sending to the world as a UN banned terrorists organisation whose chief has a bounty placed on his head and accused of killing 161 innocent people in India is allowed to hold a public rally which is attended by leaders of the major national parties ? No wonder, India refuses to hold talks with Pakistan mainly due to Hafiz Saeed being given a free run and allowed to spit venom against India as well as talking to separatists leaders. The country now stands isolated internationally due to openly hobnobbing with terrorists but still claims to be the victim of terrorism and seeks aid for fighting terrorism from international agencies.

@One Nation read ur comments, on a very serious note, u r the only person to have spoken sense in all this madness, indians n pakistanis never hated each other nor did islam n hinduism hate each other, but at sum point restless minds of povrty striken people were made to hate n schooled to believe that such hatred was inherent as per birth in there respective countries, hatred was cultivated to control the masses, politics used this hatred to blind and control the common man
