SWABI: Three people were killed and one was injured in a clash between two groups over a marriage dispute in Chota Lahor tehsil here on Tuesday, said police.

The incident occurred in Bazargi village in the jurisdiction of Yar Hussain police station.

Jan Mohammad told the police that three persons from Gumbat area of Mardan, including Shah Khalid, his brother Shahid Khan and relative Ghaniur Rehman, barged into the house of his brother-in-law, Wahid, early in the morning and opened fire on the inmates. As a result, Wahid’s son Hassan Ali and wife were killed on the spot, while another woman of the family was injured.

Wahid’s family members also retaliated to the firing and injured one of the attackers, Ghaniur Rehman.

A police official said that Ghani Rehman later succumbed to his injuries. The other attackers escaped the area after the attack.

It was learnt that Wahid Khan and his wife had solemnised the marriage without willingness of their families some years back. The marriage led to an enmity between the two families, with the brothers of the woman vowing to take revenge on their sister for dishonouring the family.
