PESHAWAR, Sept 4: NWFP health minister Inayatullah Khan has said that 44 specialists will be appointed at the 300-bed district headquarters hospital, Charsadda, to cater to the needs of people and lessen the burden on hospitals.

He reiterated the government’s resolve to carry out projects aimed at development and prosperity of the province, saying that strengthening of institutions was being kept in mind to ensure efficient delivery of services to the people.

Jamaat-i-Islami Charsadda district chief Maulana Abdul Mastan and Charsadda Naib Nazim Mujeebur Rehman also addressed on the occasion.

About the success of the MMA in the Frontier, the minister said the people of the province had rejected traditional politicians by making historical decision to get rid of the exploiters. “It is a reaction against exploitation,” he remarked.

He further said that such politicians had plundered and looted the country. They had weakened institutions. He said that the present government was striving to protect the Islamic norms and values in the province.

Highlighting the role of local bodies in development and political stability, the minister said that this system could help a lot in providing mature and far-sighted leadership to the country.

He underlined the need for a close liaison between local government and province to serve the people in a better way.

Referring to the strategy of the provincial government for the improvement of the health sector, the minister said measures were under way to appoint doctors in the province.

The minister said work on the up-gradation of the DHQ hospital, Charsadda, had been already started.

He also announced establishment of two family welfare centres each in Shabqadar and Umarzai areas to provide health care facilities to mothers and children.

The minister directed the EDO health Charsadda to provide medicines, technical staff and furniture to civil hospital Shabqadar. He also ordered repair of BHU Mian Qila.

Earlier, the minister and elected representatives of local government inspected the Civil Hospital Shabqadar. He ordered the EDO health and administration of the hospital to ensure prompt delivery of services.

On the occasion, local councillors Tariq Nazir, Ali Haider and Jasmin Khan demanded improved health facilities in their areas.

PTCL system damaged: Some unknown men damaged the communication system of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) in Mardan and Katlang areas on Thursday, disrupting the communication service for a few hours, a PTCL spokesman said in a press release adding that the line had been repaired.—Bureau
