Yoga is something India is proud to pass on to the West (now world), and they have embraced it with all the vigour. Yoga helps improve stamina, strength, flexibility and also mental well-being. Nearly 5000 students including teachers performed seven yogic postures at the Delhi Public School in Hyderabad, with religious prayers towards world harmony and peace.

Irony is that few know that Yoga originated from the place which is called Pakistan. But Pakistanis hate all their roots and label all things anti Islamic. Yoga is perfect for the upliftment of your physical and mental well being. It is humane and not related to particular religion. In Pakiastan I have seen many Yoga Gurus who are Muslims but spread the message of well being.

@yusufkhan My intention is not to counter your statement. But according to the yogic texts, the first Yogi who imparted the system of Yoga arrived from "Himalayas". However, this was at-least 4000 years or before (from several dating methodologies) and neither did India or Pakistan exist at that time. The worlds most ancient civilization stands from our region, unfortunately the offspring stands divided today.

One of the ultimate goals of YOGA is positive attitude and thinking. That would automatically leads to peace.
I believe NAMAZ and YOGA are similar in some aspects .. In my view Namaz ( Namaj) -> Namah ( I have read in some places that 'Namah' means "I salute" ) -
I salute to GOD - almighty . [ if you see in spanish 'J' prounces like 'h' ] .
I always try to find similarities among all the cultures to prove myself that all are same. that gives me peace .

Yoga helped to have not only the physical fitness but also mental. Indians are practicing it for thousands of year, since vedic era. The west practicing it for last few decades. I don't think it is a religious practice. Arabs coined the word Hindu for the people living on the other side of Sindhu river and Britishers coined the word religion for all their practices. However, neither Hindu was a religion nor all their practices were religious.

Also you cannot market a bad product. The reason yoga is so popular globally is because it does pacify one's mind, makes it sharp.

@Peace Yoga came from our gods passed down from Adishesha as Patanjali. It is owned by Hinduism and hinduism is nothing but Yoga from Ashtanga yoga to Bhakti yoga, karma yoga, kriya yoga and nada yoga. Yoga and Tantra are esoteric sciences that are integral to Hinduism and later adopted by Buddhism and Jainism. True yoga comes from a qualified guru and is never accessible to Muslims or Christians since it was never meant for them.

Thousands of years back when Yoga came into our lives, the people who originally practiced it came from the present Pakistan.
