SWABI: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl has planned to hold Shuhada-i-Swabi Conference in March next year here to highlight the sacrifices and contributions the local people have made in the pre- and post-independence period of the country, especially in Pakistan-India wars and the fight against terrorism.

Local JUI-F leaders announced this here on Sunday after a meeting chaired by party’s district chief Maulana Attaul Haq and attended by Maulana Fazal Ali and others.

Mr Haq told mediapersons that they had decided to hold the conference and highlight the contributions made by their ancestors and those who fought for the motherland after achieving independence.

“The conference would work as a sort of motivation for the people to be ready for giving sacrifices for the motherland like Captain Karnal Sher Khan (Nishan-i-Haider), who belonged to the Swabi district,” he said.

He said that the conference was scheduled to be held on March 28 next and they had already taken JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman into confidence.
