Younis Khan has been one of the finest and stylish batsmen Pakistan Cricket have produced. Extremely fit and agile on and off the field. A team boy. We have seen good players but few have been so humble as Younis is. He is an old style test cricketer, prior to color uniform era. Only shortcoming that can be attributed to Younis is; his killer instinct and ability to turn around things according to the situation. I remember when he got out, trying to hit Yuvraj Singh in the semi final against India in 2011 World Cup. I believe that would be the difference between a very good Younis Khan and a great Younis Khan in history books. Never the less, we are so happy with Younis these days. Two centuries in one test match in 40 years is quite an incredible feat against Australia.

There is no doubt about it that he is very good test player, very hardworking and talented. But in ODI I never saw him scoring fine runs. He disappointed me almost like 80% in ODI. But I still admire him.

But Younis Khan was captain in Nasim Ashraf's tenure too which was before 2009.

To win a world cup as a captain, says it all. He was able to get beat out of Afridi in T20 World Cup in 2009. So that suggests that his personal charms is helpful. Being from Karachi may be the most only negative since selection process in Pakistan is full of PCB officers favoring relatives.Many talented Karachi players are sidelined in spite of excellent performances. Give him captinship on one day, he will get it again.
