DADU: Police were deployed on the Sindh University Dadu campus on Tuesday to restore law and order after a clash between activists belonging to the student wings of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid that left six activists injured a day earlier.

It was stated that the rival groups quarrelled over the question of collecting donation from students.

All of the victims were admitted to the Dadu Civil Hospital for treatment and the pro-vice chancellor, Dr Syed Anwar Ali Shah, called out the police to restore order. Tension gripped the campus till late in the evening.

Dadu SPSF president Mansoor Shahani, Shahbaz Panhwar, Majid Birahmani, Nadir Panhwar, Faraz Malik and Mohammad Loond were injured when rival activists attacked each other with daggers, bricks and clubs.

On Tuesday, a strong contingent of police was deployed on the campus to prevent a flare-up.

Dr Shah said that normal academic activities resumed at all departments as the police were keeping a close watch on miscreants. He said point buses on all routes were operated and no untoward incident involving the rival student groups was reported on or outside the campus.
