Pakistan not to dare violate truce soon: Indian minister

BHOPAL: Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh claimed on Friday that Pakistan had been given a “befitting reply for violating ceasefire” and said Islamabad would not dare to disturb peace at the border anytime soon.
He said Pakistan had been given adequate response for recent “transgressions along the Line of Control and International Border” under the new leadership. “Ab shayad jaldi Pakistan himmat nahi karega,” he said at a convention of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers.
Pakistani forces had killed five persons in firing and shelling on the border, the minister said. “I raised the issue with the concerned director general and asked what was happening on the border. He said we have shown them white flags as per our policy 16 times. I told him, you will not show the flag the 17th time. Following this, our forces gave a befitting reply to them,” he said.
As a result, Pakistan rushed to the UN with a demand that India should immediately hold talks on the ceasefire issue, Mr Singh said. He said India’s longstanding diplomatic policy was to have peaceful relations with all its neighbours.
“But if someone provokes us again and again, then there is a limit to tolerate that.” Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge in May, India’s standing at the international level had improved, he said.

Both sides are accusing the other about exact same thing i.e. provoking the other. Politicians from both sides gained mileage out of this but losers are the citizens of both countries.
As a side note, good to see Dawn collaborate with TOI to bring this news. Each time Dawn reports casualties on Pakistan side, hope it will work with TOI to give coverage from both sides.

Eh.... What is wrong with these Indian politicians. Every word coming out of their mouths is a typical bollywood dialogue. Pakistan has been requesting a third party mediation for a long time. That is a reliable, genuine and authentic approach. However, India wants to get its way. Btw you do realize innocent people have died on this side of border too because of your army's "white flag".

It is unfortunate that after the Shimla agreement Pakistan should indulge in terrorist activities.India has accepted the LOC as the border why not honour the agreement Bhutto made with Indra Gandhi. He needed time to convince his people but was hanged before he could honour his word. Over the years Pakistan has grown weaker and lost international support. It is better for it to accept the reality of the situation and get back to the path of peace and progress otherwise it will keep getting weaker.

Pakistan has got its priorities wrong , it should first concentrate on becoming a strong economy , with good literacy rates , high industrialization automatically takes place due to availability of skilled workers , infact it should follow japanese or german model to create more skilled people suitable for industry , once pakistan is peaceful and prosperous it can then concentrate on giving freedom to oppressed people in other lands , it will be a joke if it fights for people in control of other countries when its own people are not safe or free or healthy or prosperous.

Just fyi, all the Pakistanis claiming to be Jutts, Gujjars, Rajputs etc must know one thing that these are basically Hindu/ Sikh castes and have been there for thousands of years before Islam was revealed. Baniya is a term used for the trader community. Many people say that Jinnah was a Khoja Shia Muslim of Bania descent. Baniya is not a derogatory term. They run the engine of the economy. Many of them are top philanthropists and industrialists. Mahatma Gandhi was a Baniya and he died at the hands of Godse, because he went on a hunger strike to ensure that Pakistan got its due financial and material share during partition. Still think of Baniyas as conniving and cunning?

China is NOT firing any bullet like Pakistan is doing. So India is also NOT firing at China.

Actually, India should not stop firing. Indian defence budget is several times that of Pakistan. Firing across the IB and LOC is a good way to bleed their economy. And the best thing is, no one will believe the Pakistanis even when they tell the truth. In addition India and other nations which face the Pakistani problem such as Afghanistan and Iran should approach the rest of the world to stop all aid to Pakistan and ti impose economic and trade sanctions.

I am still confused. Why only (or mostly) civilians were killed? A befiting reply would have been the one if a few army bunkers would have been destroyed, in fact India chose to fire on civilians knowing Pakistan would not do the same and would not kill kashmiries on the other side of the border.

Important point here is that India showed white flags 16 times. This is not flag of surrender but invitation to come and talk to remove any misunderstanding. This how these border skirmishes were resolved in past. Pakistan did not show up for 16 times for that request. It does not leave much choice for India but to respond by force. I would say 16 times is already too much. Three times showing white flag should have been sufficient.

The ceasefire violation was majorly in the jammu region,and Jammu is majorly a non-muslim area (FYI J&K has Jammu, Kashmir and ladakh, I sometimes wonder what pakistan wants, all 3 or just break it up and give only "kashmir" to pakistan and keeping all kashmiri pandits and other non-muslims in India), and India responded from that area only.. If lets say India fired first , then why India fired from jammu? and not kashmir, when they know that if pakistan replies then it will make the "few" kashmiris so called "separatists" backed by the same army fume which will give not be so good for pakistan, and the only hope of remaining relevant in the world will go out of its hands..

yes that is why Pakistani PM had to talk about Kashmir issue in UNO. and perhaps that is why india is embarrassed by the million march of Kashmiris in London.
