RAWALPINDI: Seven under-trial prisoners involved in last year’s sectarian violence on Ashura in Raja Bazaar were shifted to Jhelum district jail on Monday, security sources said.

The under-trial prisoners were in high security barrack in Adiala jail.

According to the sources, the suspects had been arrested by the Rawalpindi police in connection with last year’s sectarian violence in Raja Bazar.

According to the security sources, the prisoners were shifted to Jhelum due to security reasons, however, the jail authorities claimed that the jail security was foolproof but did not give any reason for shifting of the prisoners to the district jail.
