GWADAR: The District Police Officer of Kech, Abid Baloch, escaped a bomb and rocket attack in Tump area on Thursday. Two police personnel travelling with him were injured in the attack.

Official sources said the DPO was going to Tump, a small town near the border with Iran, when one of the vehicles in his convoy was hit by a roadside bomb blast near Asyiabad Pachen Kaor.

The sources said that soon after the blast rockets were fired on the convoy from nearby mountains. However, they did not hit their apparent target and exploded at a distance from the convoy.

The DPO remained unhurt.

The injured police personnel were identified as constables Mohammad Arif and Mohammad Rahim. They were taken to the district hospital in Turbat.

Sources said security personnel took several suspects into custody for interrogation.
