ABBOTTABAD: The counter terrorism department (CTD) of Hazara police has arrested an alleged terrorist hailing from Afghanistan from Orush Colony here.

DIG Hazara Akhtar Hayat Gandapur told mediapersons on Friday that newly established wing of Hazara police under the supervision of SP Malik Ejaz arrested the terrorist, Husain Baram, of Jalalabad, in a raid at Orush Colony, Nawan Sher, on Thursday.

CTD SP Ejaz said that a companion of Husain, namely Haji Khan, who also belonged to Jalalabad, escaped to Torghar district before the raid. He said that special teams had been sent to the area to arrest him. Police recovered one rifle, five mobile sets, a laptop, five sims of different cell phone companies and a vehicle.

Malik Ejaz said that the house of Husain Baran was used as a transit facility by the terrorists who were involved in number of terrorist activities in parts of the country.

PROMOTION: The promotion committee of the Hazara police has recommended promotions of 17 ASIs to the post of sub-inspector and 34 head constables to the post of assistant sub-inspector.

The committee headed by DIG Hazara Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur met here the other day and finalised names for promotion.

The DIG Hazara congratulated the officers and said that duty of police force was becoming tougher with the passage of time, demanding more vigilance and capabilities from the personnel.

He added that reward and encouragement always awaited the efficient police staff.
