KARACHI: Five pugilists from Karachi fought their way into the next round of three-day all-Sindh Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) boxing tournament which commenced in Mirpurkhas on Tuesday.

The five who outpointed their opponents and surged were Shehroz Kachi, Saeed Saleem, Hamid, Shahid Jan and Faizan Butt.

Joining them in the next round were Shoaib Murad (Sindh Rangers), Abdul Razzak (Sindh Police), Faizan (Hyderabad) Mohammad Amjad and Osama (Mirpurkhas).

According to results, of the 21 first round bouts, 10 were decided at the time of filing this report.

As many as 52 boxers from three departments — Sindh Rangers, Sindh Police and National Bank of Pakistan and six districts — Karachi, Thatta, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and hosts Mirpurkhas are taking part in the event which is held in six weight.

Allah Dino Lakho, former nazim of Mirpurkhas, inaugurated the event. Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were Col Syed Majid Shirazi, Dr Mansoor Hasan Sheikh of the ANF, officials of the Sindh Boxing Association Asghar Baloch and Abid Brohi and district secretary Saleem Baloch.

Results:

49 kg: Shehroz Kachi (Karachi) bt Arif Ali (Larkana) 3-0; Osama (Mirpurkhas) bt Ali Raza (Hyderabad) 3-0; Saeed Saleem (Karachi) bt Maqbool Ali (Sukkur) 3-0; Shoaib Murad (Sindh Rangers) bt Tanveer Khan (Sindh Police) 3-0.

52 kg: Hamid (Karachi) bt Mohammad Ali (Mirpurkhas) 3-0; Shahid Jan (Karachi) bt Shehryar Kachi (Sindh Police) 2-1; Faizan (Hyderabad) bt Murad Ali (Larkana) 2-1, Mohammad Amjad (Mirpurkhas) bt Wajid Ali (Sukkur) 2-1.

56 kg: Faizan Butt (Karachi) bt Jawwad (Hyderabad) 3-0.

60 kg: Abdul Razzak (Sindh Police) bt Rashid Khan (Karachi) 3-0.
