Known for the unseen voice of Howard Wolowitz’s mother in popular TV series The Big bang Theory, actor Carol Aunn Susi passed away after losing battle against cancer, reported CNN.
"The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today," the show's executive producers said in a statement following her death Tuesday.
Susi was known for the distinct croaky and brash Brooklyn accent in the series when she hollers at her son, Howard, played by Simon Helberg in the CBS comedy show.
Although she never made an onscreen appearance, her authoritative hollers singled her out as an individual character on the show.
"Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance."
Susi has also been on different TV shows like Cheers, Mad About You, Just Shoot Me and Seinfield.
A statement given by her publicist said:
"Carol Ann drew fervent circles of followers. She was a force of nature who didn't suffer fools and was fiercely loyal to her friends."
Directed by Chuck Lorre sitcom The Big Bang Theory is now in its eighth season.
