The Nizamuddin Dargah in the Indian capital houses the burial site of revered Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya, also regarded as the respected saint of Delhi. The dargah is a complex of tombs, mosques and stalls and is centred on the location where Nizamuddin Auliya was buried.

Do these majhars and dargahs not amount to "idol" worship. No doubt we have immense respect for these sufis. Unfortunately more than kafirs, they are under threat from Taliban.

@ghanshyam This is the beauty of India that gave a colorful tint and variation to all religions. Both Hindu and Muslim and perhaps others except may be Christians pray at the Sufi Saint's Dargah. A lot of people from Pakistan arrive on the URS of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan. It is really not worship. It is admiration of the great souls that helps us tune into our soul and keeps us in touch with the sacred humanity within us.

@N. - "admiration" ? - People go to these places with 'Mannats' and 'Duas' in there heart. They tie treads of hope and seek cure for their worldly problems. Even the Sind speaker sought its refuge during the recent cylone !

@being human I am really starting to get tired of these ignorant comments by Indian fellows. Look, have you ever been to Pakistan? Have you ever visited the temples in Pakistan? Do you have any idea about the situation of the temples in Pakistan? In Pakistan, circa 5% of the population is Hindu, so we have temples in accordance to that figure. Please, refrain from posting comments on matters of which you have no knowledge.

The photo with the kid in it is kinda sad. Why are the residents/care-takers of this facility following the request, example shown by the PM Mr. Modi with "Swacch Bharat" program? Why are they not cleaning up where the faithful are praying? The PM can only inspire you and set an example. It is for you to follow and do it.

The NIzamuddin Dargah was a little known place of worship by the locals around Lodi Road and Humayun's Tomb area in Delhi several decades back. Now it has become a full fledged pilgrimage site with hundreds of pilgrims visiting and the area is full of buses, taxis and cars and, naturally, vendors selling all the votive paraphernalia. It is now as much a must visit place for the devout as the Ajmer Dargah!
I pass by the area and wonder what it like is inside. However, being a non-Muslim I am apprehensive about violating the chastity of the holy place.

The Dargah board is required to pick up the broom and clean up the entire place around the shrine. There is a lot of dirt & filth lying around and the stalls selling raw meat must also be told to clean up properly as they emit a strong smell of rotting blood. If the approach is made cleaner, it will only add to the sanctity of this holy place.

@Safwan in Pakistan the number of Hindus are reduced every year and same happens to temple also. Every year 5000 Hindus migrate from Pakistan to India. Recently Sikhs have also started that. Indorse is the city which absorbs most of the Migrants.

@Mohit Sharma You have got it very wrong, perhaps it is the media infiltrating your minds. I have visited some of the temples including the Kali Mata temple in Baluchistan which is said to be the birth place of the Kali Mata - it is preserved and is in a good shape.
I see Hundus around and trust me they are in a much better condition than even many of their majority Muslim fellows. Can Muslims live the same way in India - I don't know....

@umesh g @ Open your mind and heart and come out of box.The Pakistani Hindus are much better and even they have good jobs for educated flocks unlike India Muslims are brutally discriminated. As a community the Muslims of India are more enlightened unlike Hindus of Pakistan.Muslims in India know how to fight back for their right and of course they are in good numbers unlike Hindus in Pakistan the case is exactly opposite.

@Mohit Sharma Dare to speak? This just show your abysmal ignorance. In 1951, the first post Partition census revealed that 8% of West Pakistan (current day Pakistan) population was non Muslim, right now they are around 6%. A 2% decrease due to the higher fertility rate of Muslim community. Same goes for India, a decrease of the Hindu population in terms of percentage of the population has been registered after Partition for the exact same reason. Next time before commenting have some decency and look up to facts.
@Kathrik 5'000 in a population of 10 million is not a big figure. (sure the situation must be improved so this doesn't happen anymore).

Delhi used to be the capital of India and Pakistan when Muslims were ruling with justice and Hanfi rule of law. Hindus accepted and embraced Hanfi school of thought as their law for centuries. Even Hindus looked upon King Bahadur Shah Zafar as the King of Hindustan. Delhi used to be a Muslim majority city until the disaster of 1857 War of Independence.

@s.subrahmanyam You have a noble heart and shouldn't fear desecrating the Dargah by visiting it as a non-Muslim. Hazrat Khwaja never discriminated between human beings, even during his lifetime, on the basis of religion. You ought to expect the same treatment from him now that he is only bodily absent. Respect is love and vice versa. Both are boundless and reciprocal.
