Sona Golf Club clinch golf championship

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Sona Golf Club Goth Machi won the 14th FFC Invitational Sona Golf Championship here on Sunday with Multan Golf Club being runners-up at the FFC Goth Machi Sona Golf Course located near Sadiqabad.

Hundred players from nine different clubs and teams including Multan Golf Club, Sunset Golf Club Bahawalpur, Mehran Golf Club Pannu Aqil, Sona Golf Club Goth Machi, Lahore Garrison Golf Club, Fatma Fertilizer Sadiqabad, FFC Mirpur Mathelo and Kepco participated in the event.

Abdulqadir of Sona Golf Club won the first position while Mohammad Yaseen of Multan Golf Club secured second slot in the professional event with Maaz being able to secure first position in the boys’ main event wherein the runner-up was Moahid Asim.

In putting (boys’) match, Qasim Bukhari got top spot while Abdul Rehman Arif remained second with Mehroz Mansoor bagging first position in the putting (girls’) contest while Ridani Fasil clinched second slot.

In the ladies contest, Mrs Asim Nazeer grabbed top position while Mrs Shahid Nawaz Malik was runner-up with Brigadier Tahir Malik winning the veterans’ event.

Ashiq Hussain of Multan Golf Club emerged as winner while Abdul Zahoor of Multan Golf Club remained runner-up in the independent gross score matches.

In the contests of professional longest drive, maximum pars and maximum birdies, Mohammad Zahoor of Sona Golf Club, Abdul Qadir of Sona Golf Club and Abdul Hameed of Multan Golf Club won, respectively, with Mubashar Mehmood Butt securing top spot in the handicap contest wherein Tariq Sajjad grabbed second position.

Mohammad Arshad, Mohmmad Mushtaq and Mian won top positions in open nearest to pin, longest drive and maximum pars and maximum bardies, respectively.
