DERA GHAZI KHAN: Senator Zulfiqar Khosa has unveiled his plan to oust the Sharif brothers from the Muslim League or to minimise their influence in the party.
“We will restore the genuine PML by uniting party workers and cleansing the influence of the Sharif brothers from the party,” he told a press conference on Saturday.
He said they would soon start consulting party leaders from Sindh and then other provinces and Azad Kashmir.
The tribal chief of the Khosa tribe said the PML did not need affix “Nawaz” to be recognised as a political party as both brothers -- Nawaz and Shahbaz -- had failed to deliver to the masses.
Their governments at the Centre and in Punjab had failed to resolve problems being faced by the nation.
Senator Khosa said Sharif brothers had neglected old party activists and inducted PML-Q leaders and retired Gen Musharraf’s cronies into the party. He said he would not disclose the names of party members supporting him as the Sharif brothers would stop their development projects in their areas.
The senator said after the consultation campaign, a huge convention of party workers would be held in Lahore.
The senator blamed the top leadership for dividing the party into groups in districts as in Dera Ghaz Khan alone, there were Leghari, Amjad Khosa and Qaisrani groups in the PML-N.
He said he would remain in the PML. About a possible show-cause to him from the party for breaching party discipline, the senator said he would disclose bitter facts about the Sharif brothers if he was served on with a notice.
His son, former chief minister Dost Muhammad Khosa, said though the previous Punjab Assembly had passed a resolution for the establishment of south Punjab province on his move and forwarded it to the National Assembly, now when both brothers were in power in the Centre and Punjab, why they were reluctant to establish the province.
