HYDERABAD: Apa Mariyam Sultana Noohani, a noted academic known in education circles in the province as the ‘Mother of Sindh’, died of cardiac arrest late on Monday night. She was 82.

She has left a son and two daughters.

On June 26 this year, she inaugurated a library named after her at the Govt Zubeda Girls College, which she headed as principal for a long time.

Apa Noohani headed the All Pakistan Women Association and the Federation of Pakistan Women Organisation. She also remained associated with the Sindh Public Service Commission and the Sindh University as subject expert.

She had a very rich educational career and many books to her credit.
