TANK: Unidentified motorcyclists on Tuesday kidnapped at gunpoint an official of the revenue department here.

Police quoted Pervez Ghulam, a nephew of the kidnapped Qanungo, Ghulam Dastagir, as saying that he along with his uncle was going to office in Tank when gunmen riding two motorcycles intercepted his car and took him away.

Mr Ghulam told the police that the gunmen told his uncle that one of their (kidnappers’) commanders, Shehryar, had called him (Dastagir).

Soon after the incident, the district police officer, Kefayatullah Wazir directed the police to block all exit points of the district and trace out the kidnapped revenue official. However, the police could not find any clue to the whereabouts of the official. A case was registered into the kidnapping incident.

MC OFFICIAL KILLED: Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday shot dead an official of the municipal committee and dumped the body at a deserted place. The police registered the case on the complaint of Gul Nawaz, brother of the MC official, Kaleem Nawaz. He told the police that some local people informed his family that the body of Kaleem was lying in the fields. He said the body bore multiple bullet wounds.
