QUETTA, Sept 10: A Balochistan High Court division bench on Wednesday was informed that the name of Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi had been removed from the Exit Control List (ECL).

An immigration official informed the bench comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani that the government had removed the name of former Balochistan chief minister, Mr Zulfiqar, from the ECL.

The ex-chief minister had filed a constitutional petition stating that he had reached a plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the corruption reference, but the passport office had refused to grant him a new passport on the pretext that his name was on the ECL.

The NAB had also written to the department concerned that it would have no objection on issuance of new passport to Nawab Magsi, he said and asked the court to direct removal of his name from the list.
