LAHORE: Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan lacked political wisdom, adding that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has proved patience was a key virtue in politics.
Zardari made these remarks while addressing party workers in Lahore.
"Was [Imran Khan] unaware of the Dhaka tragedy," the PPP co-chairman said questioning the motives of Imran Khan on giving calls to paralyse the entire country by Dec 16.
He said that his party cared for the generations to come and "cannot paralyse the country", adding that his party could not attack the federal capital.
"Islamabad is not Somnath's temple that you try repeated attempts to win it," Zardari said. "Democracy resides there, it's Parliament is democratic."
Today's reaction by the PPP co-chairman comes against the backdrop of Imran Khan's Nov 30 speech, where he had called for paralysing cities to increase pressure on the PML-N government.
Imran's said he would start with paralysing major cities in the first phase and eventually shutting down the entire country by Dec 16.
“On Thursday (Dec 4), I will go to Lahore and shut it down. On Dec 8 I will shut down Faisalabad; on Dec 12, I will go to Karachi and shut it down. By Dec 16, I will close down all of Pakistan,” Imran had said.

If by political wisdom Mr. Zardari means corruption, Swiss bank accounts, hundreds of children dieing in Thar under his party's leadership and Qaim Ali Shah not taking responsibility then YES, IK does lack political wisdom. He is just not a traditional politician like PPP and PMLN. He is a straight shooter guy. He is changing political dynamics in the country and this a bitter pill for other parties to swallow. It is time for a change from the traditional politics that has damaged the country for last 67 years. As far as shutting down the cities are concerned, one need to ask Mr. Zardari that how many times his party along with their ally MQM has shut down Karachi. Seems like they have issues with others when they themselves have done the same thing. In regards to Dhaka Tragedy, Mr. Zardari should know who was the PM of Pakistan at that time.

AAZ is the only selected political leader who's wisdom is with cleverness to ment money and make use of it not in the country but in foreign banks as well. IK no doubt is wiser than him because he has not captured an established political party but founded himself a party and made it more popular than PPP when launched in late sixteen.

You are correct that Imran does lack political wisdom. He does not know how to be corrupt, make money of contracts, ignoring people, taking lavish trips abroad on the tax payers money, buying expensive bullet proof cars.
He is just plain old fashioned honest person (but that is not the current flavour in Pakistan).

Pakistanis often refer Mr Zardari as Mr. 10 percenter. As I knew him, he was a 10 percenter about 25 years ago, and he did not spare even charitable donations which were being sent to Pakistan. I now understnad that during his days of power he followed the exponential law of his self-determined inflation and reached at times to 50%. Can some body verify if I am right?

We can all sit here and comment and show our displeasure,but it won't change a single thing.We we elect the same parties,we get the same results,than we spend 5 years calling them names,than comes the election time,guess what,we do the same thing all over again.If the people want to get results,they'll have to do better than the last time,even with rigging,the support needs to be to an extent where these 2 parties are defeated so bad,even rigging won't help.But the truth is,millions upon millions still support PPP and PML-N,so guess what,you get what you pay for.

My response to Zardari would be to point out that it is better to lack political wisdom than to lack the requisite moral fiber. Imran is head and shoulders above the rest ... as far as moral fiber is concerned. We have had enough political wisdom Zardari sahib and we cannot afford more. i don't care about Zardari but do agree with him here. Imran khan needs to get rid of his people who advising him. He needs to become politically savvy. Control his language and use his political capita wisely. Start making allies and focus on collaboration - he has opened up too many fronts and has way too many powerful and influential opponents in politics, media, judciary, human rights. Join hands with Musharraf and Najam Sethi who can advise him.

Nawaz is calling Zardari for help just as Nawaz came to rescue Zardari as was predicted by Imran. The whole parliament is a sham barring few upright members like Marvi Memon, Anwar Beg, Dasti and probably few others. The chicken of Pakistani Politics has come to roost and by the way the Dhaka Tragedy was fermented by none other than Zulfiqar Bhutto whom for the sake of prime ministerial seat refused to accept people's mandate and carved the country into half and Zardari has the gall to speak of democracy? His every own party set the first tone in the history of the country to NOT abide by people's mandate which is the first pillar of any democracy and he is out giving lessons on the subject.

@Asgher Ali. Zaradari is right, except that he failed to include his own and Nawaz Sharif's name in the same category. None of them seems to have political wisdom including their followers, just read the comments, no logic just name calling. Zardari pretty much destroyed PPP but continues to lead it, We can see where the country is going both at national and provincial levels. PTI is in power in KPK, ask IK what is he is he doing for IDP's I don't understand the wisdom of NS staying in power when people are shouting "Go Nawaz GO. Currently the country is lacking good leadership at all level's a shameful situation. We need someone better than all three

Pakistan never has had democracy and its because of parties like PPP and N-league that this is the case. Their 'baari' system needs to stop, an investigation is needed. There is no point in running a country where the average man becomes worse off day by day. So I am in full support of shut up. These fools need to leave the country and NS should go back to Saudia!

Waqihee, making money not in millions but in billions without any fear of being caught is the most crucial and rewarding political wisdom Imran still lacks but could ACQUIRE quickly once he learns the trick of trade from AZ. Of course IK will not do any good to him, his party and the people by giving shut down calls which could lead to unbearable damage to national economy and political disaster for the country.
