KARACHI: Prolific scorer Ahad Javeri guided his team Karachi District South Whites to an overwhelming 50-21 victory over district Central to win the National Bank of Pakistan Cup basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Friday night.
Javeri was quick in scoring and single-handedly led his side from the front in the final that unfortunately turned out to be one-sided affair.
The clash that started over 90-minute behind schedule due to traffic chaos in the city, had demoralised the tempo of losers before the start as they had stuck on the road for a long time.
Javeri’s 22 mesmerised the opponent’s hopes who failed to match the fast scoring rate. Shakir scored eight.
Mahad Tariq was the only player who finished in double figures for losers with 12. Tashfeen contributed four.
The winners earned a purse of Rs15,000 while the losers received Rs7,000.
Javeri was declard Man of the Match while Mahad emerged Highest Scorer. Talha Amjad earned the consolation prize. The trio received a sum of rupees one thousand apiece.
Shakeel Ahmed, Commissioner Appealant and Khalid Khan, Sindh Sports and Youth Affairs deputy secretary, graced the final.
