CHITRAL: The father of a young woman from Chitral, who was married to a man in Mardan, has alleged that his daughter was murdered by her husband, and demanded of the IGP to order inquiry into the incident.

Talking to reporters in Chitral Press Club here the other day, Mahabat Khan of Broze village said that her daughter, Shamim Bibi, was married to Painda Khan of Misri Khan village in Mardan five years ago and had also a son.

Flanked by JUI local leader Maulana Balinnas Khan, he said that Painda Khan informed him on telephone that his daughter had died during delivery of child and asked him to collect her body, which was being dispatched to Chitral from Upper Dir.

Mahabat Khan said that his son-in-law had reportedly estranged relations with his wife since their marriage and it was due to that reason that she was never brought back to Chitral to let her see her parents and other blood relations.

Mahabat Khan said that Painda Khan had duped them at the time of marriage that he was unmarried, but later it was found that he had already a wife and children from her.

It is to mention here that this is the second incident of its nature during the current week that a Chitral girl married outside the district is allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws.

In the other incident, body of a girl, Tahira Bibi of Barenis village, was brought back home from Lahore where she had been married only four months ago.

It was reported that Tahira Bibi’s husband was already married, and his first wife later confessed to having murdered the Chitral girl.
