Pakistan cruise into kabaddi World Cup semis

KARACHI: Pakistan men’s team cruised into the semi-finals of the Kabaddi World Cup being held in India after a convincing 45-35 victory over Canada on Monday.

According to the information made available here, skipper Shafiq Ahmed Chishti led from the front and made several successful raids for his team in the match in Patiala.

Chishti was ably supported by team-mates Akmal Shahzad Dogar, Musharraf Javed Janjua, Irfan Mana and Ali Shan.

Victory was the team’s third in a row in pool ‘B’ of the event with their game against Sweden, which was washed out on Sunday, to be played on Tuesday in Jalalabad.

Pakistan face Argentina in their last pool match in Amritsar on Wednesday.

The women’s team had already booked their place in the semis. According to the schedule, both men’s and women’s semi-finals will be played on Thursday.
