KARACHI: Two wild-cards both from Sindh — one in men’s and other in women’s — shocked seeded players to advance into second round of the Rs1.3 million eighth DG Rangers Sindh National Squash Championship which commenced at the Ranger’s Jahangir Khan squash complex on Tuesday.

Faizan Khan created quite a stir when he sent Railway’s Chaudhry Nasir Anwar, the 16th seed, packing straight 11-0, 11-5, 11-8 to step into next round.

Similarly, Amina Fayyaz chalked up an emphatic 11-8, 11-4, 13-11 victory over fourth seed Neha Khan, also of Sindh.

Top seed Nasir Iqbal was unfortunate to miss the event following disturbance of flight schedule due to fog in Peshawar as his opponent qualifier M. Adil Faqir was awarded a first round walkover.

Meanwhile, other seeded players sneaked into the second round winning their respective matches with ease.

The qualifiers took place on Monday having a draw of 32-man and 16-woman.
