RAWALPINDI, Dec 21: India should provide evidence to substantiate its allegation that a Pakistan-based organization was behind the December 13 attacks on the Indian parliament, the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) president, Syed Kabir Ali Wasti, said on Friday.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Mr Wasti expressed concern over the mounting tension between the two neighbours and called on both Islamabad and New Delhi to exercise restraint.

The provision of evidence to Pakistan will not only ease tension between the two countries, but, also make Islamabad’s job easier to convince its public against elements harming peace efforts in the region, he said.

“It is in the interest of both the countries that the situation is defused and an armed conflict avoided,” he said.

Mr Wasti said any armed conflict in the region was not only detrimental to international coalition formed against terrorism, but, could also endanger the whole region.
