ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broad Casting Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said that in the past military courts were formed to end democracy, however, this time their purpose was to save democracy and eliminate terrorism.
In a statement here, he said there were elements in Pakistan who wanted to impose their agenda by the barrel of a gun which was unacceptable.
The information minister said democracy and terrorism are at opposite ends and cannot go together.
He said if fear was exhibited at this time, terrorists would turn Pakistan into a graveyard.
"We have to save our future generations from these animals," he said.
Rashid also remarked that peace in Kabul was as important as peace in Islamabad. He said both the countries would fight terrorism together as peace was a common asset of the region.
The information minister said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif played an important role in bringing Afghanistan to a common thinking with Pakistan against terrorism.
He also expressed hope that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would return to Parliament and work with the government to strengthen democracy.

Only in countries like Pakistan we need army to save democracy.
I think its about saving incompetence of civilian administrations. Why dont you build civilian institutions? Why not introduce radical reforms to improve judicial system and police? Its because they wont get you votes like Metros.

The Minister says we need Army to save Democracy, this in fact he is admitting that the present government of Nawaz Sharif is incompetent and hence resign, so that Pakistan should have a fresh election and let people decide.

Usual -shameless admission of government, its responsibilities and its obligations to secure a safe environment for the general public of pakistan. Since you admitted it, morally he should resign and let others take over. Someone better can start from scratch and build self-sustaining civic institutions to serve the society. Sad situation.

If our democracy is so fragile after 7 years that it gets threatened by dharnas or terrorism then the government need to review democratic system rather than clinging on to power with the help of army.

Military courts are being established to save their own seats and government. Who cares about terrorism. Pervaiz Rashid also said that the military courts are given birth by the parliament and constitution. What nonsense! The military courts will be headed by a uniform army officer. And, this is what Pakistan needs. We don't need corrupt politicians.

The minister's statement is a cruel joke with the citizens of Pakistan - If he believes that it is the Army's job to save democracy then he should resign himself and ask the PM to resign as well and they should hand over the government to the Army

Parvaiz Rasheed Sahib Military Courts should also try other criminals such as extortionists, kidnappers, those engaged in adulteration of food stuff, medicines, etc. The civil courts and successive governments have failed on this. Enough is enough. We the common people of Pakistan demand the whole society to be cleansed of the evil that today exists in Pakistan. Please just don't hear us but also listen to us before it is too late for the chaos to set in. It is now the choice of the government in which direction it wants to proceed.
