MITHI: Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari and Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq are to visit Tharparkar within the next few days, it was learnt.

Mr Zardari would arrive in Mithi on Saturday to inaugurate what is being described as Asia’s biggest reverse osmosis plant having the desalination capacity of two million gallon water a day.

Party sources said that a schedule for Mr Zaradari’s visit was yet to be finalised. However, sources in the district administration expected the inauguration programme to be held on Saturday. Meanwhile, a JI press release issued here on Monday said that Sirajul Haq would arrive in Mithi on Tuesday to assess the drought situation in the region and lead the party’s ‘Save Thar Rally’. The rally is scheduled to be taken out at about 1pm.

Mr Haq would also visit the Mithi Civil Hospital and some villages, the press release added.
