SUKKUR, Sept 14: The chairman, Jeay Sindh Mahaaz, Abdul Khaliq Junejo, has said that it is time for the people of Sindh to decide whether they want to die of thirst or fight for the resolution of their problems.

Addressing a public gathering on Saturday, he said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf has no respect for the people of Sindh and the resolutions of the Sindh Assembly.

Terming the supporters of the Kalabagh Dam “traitors of Sindh”, he said that the people should not rely on landlords as they were agents of the establishment.

He alleged that President Gen Musharraf on the instigation of a particular province had betrayed the remaining three provinces.

Mr Khaliq said that he was afraid that some members of the Sindh Assembly would support the construction of the Kalabagh Dam and Thal canal due to the greed of ministries. He saidt the problem of water was superior to one unit; therefore, the people of Sindh should unite and raise their voice against it.

Speaking on the occasion, labour leader, Maula Bux Khaskheli, said the people of Sindh should fight against those rulers who had looted the country.

IRO-2002: The workers of the country have rejected the Industrial Relations Ordinance-2002 due to its anti-labour laws and they will never accept it in its present form.

National progress and prosperity cannot be achieved without creating a labour-friendly atmosphere in which every sort of exploitation is eliminated.

This was said by National Labour Federation secretary-general and Wapda’s Paigham Union president Sirajuddin Saqib while speaking at a workers’ convention organized by the union here on Saturday.

Mr Saqib accused the government of introducing a black law in the form of the IRO-2002 and said that the workers of the country would carry on their struggle against it.

Speaking at the convention, Sindh NLF president Rana Mehmood Ali Khan accused the rulers of exploiting the workers.
