Delhi threatens to use ‘double the force’

NEW DELHI: Amid reports of intensified cross-border incidents in a section of Jammu, India threatened to reply to Pakistan’s alleged transgressions on Wednesday with double the force.
Press Trust of India claimed that four Pakistan Rangers were killed in BSF’s “retaliaton” after a jawan of the force lost his life in heavy firing from the other side on a patrol on Wednesday along the International Border in J&K’s Samba district.
According to the PTI, the retaliation forced the Rangers to wave white flags and came on a day when the Modi government asked the BSF to provide a “suitable and appropriate reply” for any unprovoked firing from across the India-Pakistan border, PTI said.
“We have retaliated effectively to the Pakistan firing, in which four Pakistan Rangers have been killed (opposite to Regal post) along the IB in Samba sector this evening,” Inspector General, BSF, Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Sharma told PTI in Jammu.

The problem with India-Pakistan relations is lack of functional democracy in Pakistan. A communication between Army and civilian govt cannot take place. Hence Indian army should be the only source of communication to the Pakistani army or its puppet democracy.

With Pakistan in turmoil over its own home-grown terrorist problem, it suits India to steer up problems for Pakistan. Remember all States are, by their very nature, opposed to one another. Pakistan can twist India by blocking trade corridors. Simple.

If you ignore hostile and hateful speeches of hard liners from both sides, you will notice that Indians and Pakistanis display natural warmth and friendship towards each other in other countries. Indian and Pakistani military personnel while on various UN missions abroad help each other in various combat duties as soldiers of the same unit. Western military officers find it unbelievable.Unfortunately here at home we are the bitterest enemies and take pride in killing young soldiers,making young girls as widows and children orphans on other side of the fence. For last seven decades we are killing each other, when shall we produce statesman who will understand the futility of killing and usher an era of peace.
