Website review: Zimmer Twins

Published January 3, 2015

WINTER holidays is a great time to enjoy by going out and having fun in the chilly weather. But if you are not feeling up to some outdoor fun, then how about trying some animation and turn a dull vacation into a creative one?

So here is a treat for animation lovers, Zimmer Twins — a website that will let you explore the world of cute animations.

Let’s start by logging in. The site seeks permission and confirmation from your parents or your guardians only then you can easily access it with your username. There are four categories in clips to choose from, such as ‘Talk bubble’ to make your character talk, yell, sing, etc; ‘Action’ where you can make your character laugh, fly, ride, float, hide, run, and much more, then there is ‘Close-up’ in which you can give your character expressions like surprise, dizzy, relieved, confuse or even scared.

Lastly, there is ‘Star clips’, these include fun clips like writing a newspaper headline, writing your own fortune etc., don’t worry kids, you are given a good number of clips to choose from.

You can either jump start or take a guideline through step by step tutorial. So when you choose and add a clip, three things happen — you are shown a preview of the clip, a sentence pops up and the clip is added to the timeline given at the bottom of the page. You’ll notice some underlined words in the sentence; by clicking on them a dropdown list appears which gives you further options to change the scene, background, character, and even the things that the characters are holding.

Therefore, you can add one after another in your timeslot and give them expressions, actions and speech, etc., to see how your animation is working, click on the rewind button and then play. You can also change the order of your clips by swapping them forward or backwards or remove and undo. So go on your own and explore more wacky stuff and enjoy your animations. But don’t forget to save your creations!
