ABBOTTABAD: The selection board of the Ayub Medical College has approved appointment of 19 doctors and promotion of 19 others to higher pay scales.

According to a notification issued by the AMC principal on Saturday, the selection board appointed eight assistant professors and 11 lecturers. The board also promoted ten associate professors to professors in BPS-20 and nine assistant professors to associate professors in BPS-19.

Those made professors included Dr Mohammad Asif (ENT), Dr Rehan Ahmed (medicine), Dr Saleem Afzal (medicine), Dr Jehangir Khan (medicine), Dr Tariq Mehmood (physiology), Dr Irfan-ud-din Khattak (surgery), Dr Mukhtar Ahmed (surgery), Dr Mohammad Akbar (surgery), Dr Ali Fawad Nazar (pathology) and Dr Umer Hayat (interventional cardiology).

The nine assistant professors promoted to associate professors included Dr Syed Kamran Aamir Rizvi (dermatology), Dr Haq Nawaz (pharmacology), Dr Rubina Shaheen (anatomy), Dr Iftikhar Ahmed (forensic medicine), Dr Syed Javed Shah (endocrinology), Dr Zulfiqar Ali (ophthalmology), Dr Jamila Farid (pathology), Dr Mohammad Idris (pathology) and Dr Ahsen Aurangzeb (neuro-surgery).

Besides, administrative officer, Syed Sartaj Ali Shah, has been promoted as deputy director administration, while senior stenographer, Sajid Sheikh, has been promoted as superintendent.

AMC principal Professor Dr Shahid Sultan said that the promotions and appointments had been made to remove the deficiency of staff.
